Another prodigy from Barcelona

Sunday, May 18, 2008

Latest product from La Masia academy with amazing technical and scoring abilities.

His name is Bojan Krkić Pérez. The prodigy joined the Cantera at Barcelona in 1999 and since then his statistics beyond imaginary.

He scored astonishing numbers of 961 goals in his seven years with the youth club and breaking all previous goal scoring records held at the club's youth levels!

Bojan joins the senior squad for the 2006-07 season when he is only 16.

His rise through the ranks of the Barça academy teams was meteoric: Aleví B (2000-01), Aleví A (2001-02), Infantil B (2002-03), Infantil A (2003-04), Cadet B (2004-05), Cadet A (2005), Juvenil A (2006) and finished with Barça B (2007).

During his half season with Barça B, he scored 10 goals and became top scorer for his team.

The gifted player reach his place in the first team from Juvenil A in just one season, from 2006-07 to 2007-08.

Bojan won the adidas Bronze Ball, behind Macauley Christantus (Silver Ball) and Toni Kroos (Golden Ball), in 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

He was the main figure in leading Spain to the final.

He was suspended for the final after his sent off for his second yellow card in the semi-final against Ghana, and Spain lost to Nigeria on penalties.

Although he missed the final but he finished joint 3rd top scorer alongside German star Kroos with 5 goals.

He made his Spanish La Liga debut as a substitute for Giovani dos Santos in Barcelona's 0-0 away draw at Osasuna at 17 years and 18 days, only a week after the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

This season he already set two records for Barcelona in Europe and La Liga.

Aged 17 years and 22 days, he became the youngest Barça player ever to make his debut in the Champions League.

Then he scored his first La Liga goal to become the youngest player ever to score a league goal for Barça, when he scored aged just 17 years, 1 month and 22 days.

His first ever Champions League goal in the 1-0 away victory at Schalke 04, making him the first person born in the 1990s to score in the Champions League, and the second youngest player ever behind Ghanaian Peter Ofori-Quaye, who scored at the age of 17 years and 195 days old.

Due to a double passport (he is the son of a Serbian father and a Spanish mother), whether he will continue to play for the Spanish senior team is a matter of doubt though.

On February 2008, Bojan was included in the Spanish national team for a friendly match against France.

He would be the youngest player ever represent Spain at 17 years, 5 months and 9 days, breaking Angel Zubieta's record of 17 years and nine months which has stood for over 70 years.

Unfortunately Bojan called in sick and couldn't make his debut, and has been left out of Spain's squad for Euro 2008 due to fatigue.

So there will be no sensation from this highly-rated teenager in Austria and Switzerland.
