Eto'o considering a Move to... Uzbekistan?

Sunday, July 20, 2008

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has confirmed that he is seriously considering a number of offers including a move to join Uzbek club Kuruvchi.

The 27-year-old, who has been linked with several top clubs across Europe, is looking for a new club after new Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola said the Cameroon international, along with Deco and Ronaldinho, was not part of his future plans. Ronaldinho has signed with AC Milan while Deco with Chelsea.

Eto'o told a news conference in Tashkent that several clubs was chasing his signature and Kuruvchi was one of them.

He also admitted there was an interest in him of Kuruvchi, and that was the reason for his travel to the Uzbek capital.

The current Uzbek championship leaders Kuruvchi have reportedly offered $40 million to tempt the three-time African Player of the Year.

Kuruvchi coach Mirjalol Kasymov, who formerly known as 'David Beckham of Uzbekistan', told the club's official website that they have made a very good offer and are quite serious of getting Eto'o to play there. He believed the hitman will help his side in the Asian Champions League.

Kuruvchi will face Iran's Saipa in the Asian Champions League quarter-finals in September.
