Inter Milan cemented their position at the top of Serie A table with a 1-0 victory over old rivals Juventus at San Siro.

Inter boss José Mourinho made a surprise by starting with Brazilian striker Adriano, who had been frozen out in recent weeks after phoning in sick from training and turning up late.

Zlatan Ibrahimović failed to convert Inter's two best chances, shooting just wide from good positions in the 33rd and 65th minute.

Ghana international Sulley Muntari finally broke the deadlock on 72 minutes as he tapped home a pass from Ibrahimović to score his first goal for Inter.

Inter now have 30 points, while Juve, whose 2006 title was stripped and handed to Inter after the Calciopoli scandal, trail the leaders by six points.

In Florence, Fiorentina beat Udinese 4-2, who have now lost three games in a row, to jump five places to fourth.
