Abbiati signs new Milan deal

Friday, January 23, 2009

Italian goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has signed an extension to his current deal with AC Milan, announced the club's official website.

His contract was set to expire in 2010, but Milan have stepped in and a new deal which will tie him to the Rossoneri until June 30, 2011, has been signed.

The 31-year-old has been at the club since 1998 but has spent the past few seasons on loan at Juventus, Torino and Atlético Madrid after falling behind Dida in the pecking order.

He was recalled to San Siro at the end of last season and has regained his status as first-choice goalkeeper.
