Agent denies Mancini's Chelsea link

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

The agent of former Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini has denied all the recent speculation suggesting his client was close with the manager's job at Chelsea.

Mancini has been out of work since he was fired by Inter supremo Massimo Moratti at the end of last season.

A number of reports in both Italy and England had suggested that Mancini was being lined up to replace Luiz Felipe Scolari at Stamford Bridge.

However, Mancini's representative Maurizio De Giorgis has rubbished rumours linking his client with a move to the Premier League.

He told Goal.com: "I can tell you that no club has approached Mancini.

"We haven't had any contact with Chelsea, Manchester City or any other English club.

"I certainly hope that they come forward, but like I said, nothing so far.

"You never know what might happen in football though. We could get a call from someone in the next few hours. If they call then we will answer them obviously.

"For now Mancini is still under contract with Inter who are still paying him and we haven't considered any other club."
