Scolari: Ballack, Čech and Drogba are my enemies

Thursday, February 12, 2009

Sacked Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari believes Michael Ballack, Petr Čech and Didier Drogba were responsible for his departure from the West London club.

Scolari, a World Cup winner with Brazil in 2002, was sacked after just 224 days in charge, with the Blues lying fourth in the Premier League and only taking eight points from the last six matches.

Big Phil was shocked by the timing of his dismissal but not surprised he was out of a job as he believes the three men knifed him during his reign at Stamford Bridge.

An unnamed source told The Sun: "Ballack, Čech and Drogba became my enemies.

"Somehow, they have a direct line to (Roman) Abramovich."

Scolari was alarmed by stories that his £8 million signing Deco was partying. He believed the story had been leaked by someone close to Ballack.

In response, Scolari called a team meeting in which he warned the players about speaking out of turn.

Scolari also blames goalkeeper coach Christope Lollichon for ruining his relationship with Čech.

Lollichon’s relationship with Scolari became so strained that he was banned from the pre-match team-talk ahead of last weekend’s match with Hull.

Drogba and Scolari had a much-publicised falling-out after the striker’s poor performance during the 3-0 defeat at Manchester United last month.

The Ivorian was dropped from the squad for two matches and a plan to swap Drogba for Robinho was hatched.

But the club’s response was to refuse the chance to meet with Robinho’s father and agent Gilvan de Souza. At that point, Scolari knew his days as Chelsea manager were numbered.
