Inter Milan rescind Adriano contract

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Inter Milan announced on Friday that they had rescinded the contract of troubled striker Adriano.

The news came as little surprise after the Brazilian declared that he wanted a break from the football after refusing to return to Italy.

His agent Gilmar Rinaldi had been holding talks with the Nerazzurri about cancelling the player's contract and now the issue has been settled between both parties.

A club statement read: "FC Internazionale would like to communicate that the contract of Adriano Leite Ribeiro has been mutually rescinded, taking effect from April 1.

"The documents were sent to the offices of the Italian Football League this morning.

"Everyone at Inter would like to give Adriano a warm embrace for his eight years and 74 goals here."

However, Adriano is unlikely to seek a move to a European club in the near future, according to Rinaldi.

He told Sky Italia. "Now Adriano is free to play where he wants but he couldn't return to Italy or Europe, perhaps he will play again in Brazil.

"Right now he's not sure about what he will want to do. He had some particular problems and we are working to resolve them."
