Luca Toni staying put at Bayern Munich

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni insists he has no intention of leaving the Allianz Arena this summer.

The 32-year-old's future with the Bundesliga giants was brought into question by the signing of two more strikers in the offseason, namely Hamburg's Ivica Olić and VfB Stuttgart's Mario Gómez.

With two new big-name forwards to compete with, Toni's starting place in Louis van Gaal's scheme looks under threat, but the ex-Fiorentina star claims he will stay on at Bavaria.

Toni told Bild newspaper: "I feel very happy in Munich.

"Bayern have everything that I want at the moment - excellent prospects for the title and a real chance to win the Champions League. With such a strong team we can achieve that.

"And I promise my fans: I will stay true to Bayern. I will train even harder, give even more from my performances."
