São Paulo claims AC Milan are broke!

Sunday, June 14, 2009

São Paulo sporting director João Paulo de Jesus Lopes has laughed off AC Milan's rumoured offer of £20 million for Miranda and Hernanes.

The Rossoneri are known to be keen on both defender Miranda and creative midfielder Hernanes as candidates to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

But Lopes believes Milan don't have enough money to buy the pair.

"Let's wait a minute," he joked on Globoesporte.

"I need to find out how much a crate of bananas is worth, as that is how much they want to give us for both players.

"We know that Milan ended the season in the red and not even the £62 million from Kaká's sale to Real Madrid was enough to balance the books.

"If an offer does come for our two players, it is more likely to arrive from Spain, as their clubs are financially stronger."
