Ashley Young commits future to Aston Villa

Monday, July 27, 2009

Ashley Young has moved to end speculation linking him with a move away from Aston Villa by confirming he has more ambitions to fulfil with the club.

The England winger has been the source of speculation since the end of last season and especially following the arrival of Stewart Downing this month.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill has always insisted that the 24-year-old is not for sale, claiming that even a £50 million bid would be resisted by the top brass at Villa Park.

And Young now appears to have quashed that speculation even further by insisting he is happy at the Midlands club.

He told www.avfc.co.uk: "If you look at when I first came I set myself a lot of goals.

"I've achieved some of them - like getting into the England team, winning Player of the Month awards and being named the PFA Young Player of the Year.

"There are still things that I want to achieve here. The club's on a high - on the way up - and hopefully so am I, so I'm happy here."
