Indonesian-blooded soccer player gets chance in Serie A

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Serie A outfit Cagliari have officially completed the signing of Piacenza midfielder Radja Nainggolan, who has an Indonesian father.

The Sardinians completed the transfer on Wednesday and made the official announcement.

The 21-year-old has arrived on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

"I come to Cagliari with such enthusiasm. My goal is to grow and improve," Nainggolan told Cagliari's official website.

"I can play in any position in midfield. I'm better on the left, but I hope to find space, where I am deployed is of little importance."

Nainggolan, who is considered one of the most interesting prospects of Belgian football, was born in Antwerp but owes his unusual name to an Indonesian father.
