Zaragoza striker shows support for Chile earthquake victims

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Chilean striker Humberto Suazo sent a message of support for the victims of the earthquake in his home country after scoring two goals for Real Zaragoza against Getafe on Saturday.

The 28-year-old lifted his jersey to reveal a T-shirt with the words "Fuerza Chile" (Strength, Chile) after scoring twice in the first half in a 2-0 win at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

A massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Chile early Saturday, killing at least 122 people, toppling buildings, and triggering a tsunami warning around the Pacific.

"It was something important I needed to show on this day," Suazo said after the match.

"Many friends asked me how I was emotionally, but I'm focused on the game.

"I knew I needed a goal and that is why I made this shirt to give encouragement to whole country."
