Nicklas Bendtner claimed the first hat-trick of his professional career as Arsenal reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 5-0 rout of FC Porto at the Emirates.

Trailing 2-1 following a controversial first-leg defeat in Portugal, Bendtner scored twice in the opening 25 minutes to put the Gunners in charge.

Samir Nasri then settled any nerves with a quite brilliant individual goal on 64 minutes and substitute Emmanuel Eboué put the result beyond doubt three minutes later.

Bendtner completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the dying moments after Eboué had been felled in the area.
