La Liga: Getafe 2-4 Real Madrid

Friday, March 26, 2010

Real Madrid returned to the top of La Liga after claiming a 4-2 derby success over Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

Cristiano Ronaldo got the ball rolling with a trademark free-kick in the 13th minute before a quick brace from in-form Argentine frontman Gonzalo Higuaín put Real 3-0 ahead.

Real put the result beyond doubt when Ronaldo grabbed his second of the night on 37 minutes, dribbling down the right and blasting the ball into the far corner from a tight angle.

Ex-Real player Daniel Parejo pulled one back for the home side inside 60 seconds by sweeping the ball in after goalkeeper Iker Casillas had run out of the area to clear the ball.

Pedro León cut the deficit further in the 79th minute when the ball rebounded off a defender to his feet and he tapped home.
