Serie A: Napoli 3-1 Juventus

Friday, March 26, 2010

Juventus dropped to seventh in the table, three points adrift of the final Champions League place, after a 3-1 defeat to Napoli at the Stadio San Paolo.

The Bianconeri took the lead in the seventh minute when Giorgio Chiellini nodded home an Alessandro Del Piero free-kick from close range.

Napoli should have been level seconds after the start of the second half when Jonathan Zebina brought down Fabio Quagliarella in the area, receiving a yellow card for his troubles, but Marek Hamšík fired the resulting penalty over the crossbar.

Five minutes later, though, the home side finally had their equaliser as Quagliarella got free down the left and and fired a cross to the far post where Hamšík rose highest to head home.

The roles were then reversed in the 72nd minute when Hamšík rolled the ball across the six-yard box for Quagliarella to stretch out and prod the ball home at the far post.

Ezequiel Lavezzi made the result safe for Napoli two minutes from time as the Argentine forward went through on goal to fire a low shot into the corner of Alex Manninger's goal.
