AS Roma now go into the final three games trailing league leaders Inter Milan by two points after suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Sampdoria.
Roma captain Francesco Totti opened the scoring in the 15th minute when he applied a sidefoot finish from Mirko Vučinić's cross.
But Giampaolo Pazzini headed Sampdoria level at the start of the second half before grabbing the winner with five minutes remaining to silence a jam-packed Stadio Olimpico.
