Filippo Inzaghi: Why I stay with AC Milan

Sunday, May 23, 2010

Veteran AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi has explained why he signed a new one-year contract with the Rossoneri.

The 36-year-old, who joined Milan from Juventus in 2001, has barely featured over this season, but he will now notch 10 years with the club after committing until the end of June 2011.

"I accepted to stay only because, as always, I feel I can still be useful and competitive," SuperPippo told Il Corriere dello Sport. "I will be the one to decide when I retire.

"I need one goal to be the top scorer in European competition, three to equal Marco van Basten’s tally with Milan and seven to reach Roberto Baggio in the all-time record of Italian marksmen.

"I feel that this next year will be the one to achieve this incredible hat-trick of records."
