Manchester City came from behind to beat Aston Villa 3-1 at Eastlands and all but ended their opponents' Champions League hopes.

City dominated early on but fell behind against the run of play in the 16th minute when John Carew peeled off Kolo Touré to slot the ball under stand-in keeper Márton Fülöp via a slight deflection.

But the hosts turned the game on its head with two goals in two minutes just before the break through a Carlos Tévez penalty and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Craig Bellamy sealed the win for City in the 89th minute as substitute Shaun Wright-Phillips ran past a couple of Villa challenges and set up the Welshman to bend the ball expertly past Brad Friedel.
