Real Madrid not looking to sell Gonzalo Higuaín

Friday, May 28, 2010

Real Madrid sporting director Jorge Valdano insists Gonzalo Higuaín will not be leaving the Bernabéu this summer amid reported interest from Manchester City.

Reports on Thursday night suggested City were in talks with the Spanish giants over the 22-year-old Argentine striker.

However, Valdano has poured cold water on the speculation by insisting that Higuaín is untransferable.

He told Marca: "He is under contract for three more years and has been a key man this season, he is not transferable."

It would be a major shock if Real did let the forward go, after ending the season as the club's top goalscorer with an impressive 27 league goals.

Valdano added: "We do not need more forwards, we scored 102 goals this season and Karim Benzema didn't play much. Next season Karim is like a new signing."
