OFFICIAL: Milan complete Marco Amelia loan deal

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

AC Milan have announced that goalkeeper Marco Amelia has put pen to paper on a one-year contract on loan from Genoa.

The 28-year-old will initially move to the San Siro on a 12-month loan, with the Rossoneri then having the option to purchase a 50 percent stake in his contract next summer.

If they do take up the option, it will begin an automatic contract holding him with Milan until 2013.

"AC Milan communicates to have aquired, on a loan basis with the right to a co-ownership deal, Marco Amelia from Genoa," read a statement on Milan website.

Milan have been in the market for a new shot-stopper since Brazilian goalie Dida opted to run down his contract.

Fans will remember Amelia saved two out of three penalties against Ronaldinho as a Genoa player when both clubs met in previous campaigns.
