Is this the finest goal celebration ever?

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Icelandic football team Stjarnan have found fame outside their homeland after their hilarious fisherman-style goal celebration has proved a hit on YouTube.

In a match last weekend against Fylkir, their winning goal celebration was actually better than the winning goal.

After Halldór Orri Björnsson netted a last-gasp "Panenka" penalty to take a 2-1 lead, he decided to go fishing before "reeling in" a huge catch - one of his team-mates, Jóhann Laxdal.

Showing wonderful technique, the "catch" flapped his way across the turf and was then picked up by several members of the team and proudly displayed.

And as the players smile with their quarry, another member of the team mimicked taking a photo to remember the catch by.
