Premier League: Chelsea 2-0 Stoke

Sunday, August 29, 2010

Chelsea could not produce six goals for the third match in succession but still they cruised to a 2-0 victory over Stoke City at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard squandered a chance to give the hosts an early lead from the penalty spot after Florent Malouda had been brought down by Ryan Shawcross, with Thomas Sørensen saving his tame effort.

But the Blues were not to be denied for long and Malouda slotted home on 32 minutes after after a defence-splitting pass from John Terry.

And the game was put to bed in the 77th minute when Sørensen was bedazzled by Nicolas Anelka's pace and Didier Drogba slotted home from the spot-kick.
