Man City misfit Roque Santa Cruz targeted by Lazio

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Roque Santa Cruz's agent has revealed that Serie A club Lazio are interested in bringing the out-of-favour Manchester City striker to the Stadio Olimpico.

The Paraguay international, who cost the Eastlands club £15 million just twelve months ago, is well down the pecking order under Roberto Mancini and has been tipped to leave before the end of the transfer window.

The 29-year-old has been interesting a number of clubs and it seems that Lazio now lead the race for his services.

"I understand that there have been meetings between Manchester City and Lazio's officials for the transfer of Santa Cruz," said agent Jan Van Baal.

"I have been informed about the real interest of Lazio. At this moment I can say that there are 50 percent possibility that the transfer can be done.

"This proposal is official and according to what I have been informed Lazio would be offering €6 million."

Lazio president Claudio Lotito also confirmed that Santa Cruz is an option for the Biancoceleste, but admits a deal has not yet been done.

He told lalaziosiamonoi.it: "The speech for Santa Cruz is still open, but we are thinking in detail about some aspects.

"We will make the right assessments and decide soon."
