Serie A: Cagliari 5-1 AS Roma

AS Roma, who finished second in Serie A last season, suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat at the hands of Cagliari.
Daniele Conti put the Sardinians in front in the eighth minute before Daniele De Rossi equalised for Roma with a header in the 18th minute.
Nicolás Burdisso was sent off two minutes later for a rough foul on Conti with Alessandro Matri converting the ensuing penalty.
It was all Cagliari from thereon in with Roberto Aquafresca adding a third, Matri scoring his second and substitute Andrea Lazzari slotting home a late fifth.
