Cristiano Ronaldo scored three times as Real Madrid stayed at the top of La Liga with an impressive 5-1 home victory over Athletic Bilbao.
Gonzalo Higuaín showed great strength to shrug off his man and finish to open the scoring in the 19th minute before Ronaldo got his first with a low drive in the 30th minute.
The visitors pulled a goal back in the 40th minute throught Fernando Llorente, but Sergio Ramos restored the two-goal advantage by scoring from the penalty spot on 57 minutes.
Ronaldo made it 4-1 in the 62nd minute with a 35-yard free-kick and the Portuguese star then converted a 90th minute penalty to complete his hat-trick.
