Premier League: Wigan 2-2 Arsenal

Thursday, December 30, 2010

Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw at Wigan Athletic as Sébastien Squillaci nodded a late own goal to seal a stalemate.

Ben Watson put Wigan ahead from the penalty spot in the 18th minute after Charles N'Zogbia tumbled over Laurent Koscielny's trailing leg just on the edge of the area.

The Gunners fought back though as Andrei Arshavin rifled in a lovely scissor-kick before creating a goal for Nicklas Bendtner before half-time.

N'Zogbia then got himself sent off for pushing his head into Jack Wilshere's face after an exchange of words, leaving referee Lee Probert little option but to show red.

But Squillaci scored an own goal in the 81st minute as he tried to thwart Gary Caldwell to end the game in a stalemate.
