In what seems to prove footballers truly have lost touch with reality, Stoke City star Jermaine Pennant left his Porsche at a train station in Spain for five months because he forgot about it.

Spanish club Real Zaragoza contacted their former player after city authorities called them about the abandoned Porsche 911 Turbo, which had been parked at a local rail station for five months.

Club officials quickly realised the £98,000 luxury motor belonged to the 28-year-old Englishman because it had a P33NNT vanity number plate.

And they were shocked when they forced open one of the doors to discover the keys on the driver's seat, which helped to facilitate its speedy removal.

But the forgetful footballer admitted he did not remember owning such a car, according to Madrid-based daily Marca.

Pennant has a large collection of luxury sports cars, including a Ferrari and an Aston Martin.
