Manchester City are still level on points with local rivals Manchester United at the Premier League summit following an entertaining 1-0 victory at home over Blackpool.
City went ahead on 34 minutes when Gary Taylor-Fletcher cleared a corner straight to Adam Johnson, who sent a low shot through the crowd and past the unsighted goalkeeper.
The home side should have gone further ahead three minutes later when Luke Varney fouled Yaya Touré, but Carlos Tévez tamely rolled his penalty wide of the post.
