Premier League: Tottenham 3-2 Stoke

Sunday, April 10, 2011

Peter Crouch scored twice while Luka Modrić added another as Tottenham Hotspur edged a five-goal thriller at home against Stoke City.

Crouch put Spurs ahead from Roman Pavlyuchenko's cross after 10 minutes and Modrić made it 2-0 seven minutes later as he surged through the Potters defence to slot home.

Matthew Etherington pulled one back for Stoke with a stunning solo effort in the 26th minute, but the hosts soon restored their two-goal cushion thanks to Crouch's second of the game.

Kenwyne Jones reduced the deficit before halftime after blasting his left-foot effort into the top corner but Spurs held on for the narrow win.
