Defending champions Barcelona began their campaign for a fourth straight La Liga title with a stunning 5-0 victory over Villarreal at the Camp Nou.
Thiago Alcântara opened the scoring for Barcelona after 25 minutes before Cesc Fàbregas doubled the lead from an assist from Lionel Messi on the stroke of half-time.
New signing Alexis Sánchez made it 3-0 two minutes into the second-half when he latched onto Thiago's delightful pass before slotting home past Diego López.
Messi then got on the scoresheet after 53 minutes after good work from Andrés Iniesta and the Argentine scored again with 15 minutes remaining, with Thiago again giving the final pass.
