La Liga: Real Madrid 5-1 Granada

Sunday, January 8, 2012

Real Madrid went six points clear of defending champions Barcelona after a 5-1 thrashing of Granada at the Bernabéu.

Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the 19th minute before Granada equalised through Mikel Rico's header three minutes later.

But Sergio Ramos reclaimed the lead for Madrid on 34 minutes and the game was over as a contest when Gonzalo Higuaín and Benzema scored within five minutes of the start of the second period.

Cristiano Ronaldo then added further gloss to the scoreline with a well-struck effort from the edge of the area in stoppage time.
