Champions League: APOEL 1-0 (agg 1-1 (4-3 AP)) Lyon | inside World Soccer

Cypriot champions APOEL Nicosia extended their improbable run in the Champions League after they defeated Olympique Lyon 4-3 on penalties in Cyprus.

The hosts had forced the game into extra time after winning 1-0 in 90 minutes thanks Gustavo Manduca.

Manduca was then dismissed in added time, but it made little difference as the match went to penalties.

After Alexandre Lacazette had missed for Lyon and with APOEL scoring all their four kicks, Michel Bastos had to convert to keep the match going but he failed with Dionisis Chiotis saving to his left.
