Steven Gerrard marked his 400th Premier League appearance in style as the Liverpool captain scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 Merseyside derby victory over Everton at Anfield.
The Reds opened the scoring just past the half-hour mark as Gerrard curled an inch-perfect first-time left-footed shot over the heads of defenders and Tim Howard in the Everton goal from the edge of the area, following good work from Martin Kelly.
Everton's brighter start to the second half was extinguished just six minutes after the restart when Gerrard struck again with a typical goal, and the skipper put the seal on another impressive personal display by securing his hat-trick in injury time.
