La Liga: Villarreal 1-1 Real Madrid

Thursday, March 22, 2012

José Mourinho was sent to the stands and saw two of his players sent off as Real Madrid conceded a late free kick in a 1-1 draw at Villarreal.

Mourinho's men took the lead at El Madrigal on the hour when Cristiano Ronaldo played a one-two with Mesut Özil before slotting home beyond Villarreal goalkeeper Diego López.

But for the second match in succession, Madrid failed to finish off their adversary and Marcos Senna curled home a free-kick to draw the home side level in the 83rd minute.

Chaos then broke out as Madrid lost their cool, and referee José Luis Paradas Romero sent Mourinho from the sideline in protest of the foul call that set up Senna's goal.

To compound matters for the visitors, Sergio Ramos and Özil were both sent off with their second yellow cards a minute later as Madrid played the final five minutes with nine men.
