Santi Cazorla fired the visitors ahead early in the second half against his former team, but his eighth goal of the season was erased when Marcos Senna lifted a pass into the area for Pérez, who was wiped out by Málaga goalkeeper Carlos Kameni.

The Cameroon custodian was shown a straight red card for the challenge, and Senna netted the equaliser from the spot.

With a one-man advantage, the hosts looked to secure the win and attacked in numbers, missing a couple golden chances before the goal they craved arrived four minutes into stoppage time.

Málaga substitute goalkeeper Rubén punched an inswinging corner kick out of the area, but into the path of Pérez, who volleyed a curling effort into the bottom right to send the home fans into raptures.
