Fernanda Maia was spotted by the world famous men's magazine after she was filmed playing a key part in Botafogo's decisive goal against Vasco de Gama last Sunday.

Botafogo, 2-0 up, were pressing for a third when the opposition defender cleared the ball out for a throw-in to give them some breathing space, but Maia quickly threw a different ball to Botafogo.

The home side immediately went on the attack, catching the Vasco defence napping and scoring a goal through Maicosuel to all but wrap up the state championship for Botafogo.

Maia's heroics have seen Playboy line her up for its July edition, but the 22-year-old did not feel she deserved all the praise.

She said: "I didn't score the goal. Maicosuel did. He is quick and smart. I did what I always did."

The young Brazilian now wants to strut her stuff at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Maia added: "I want to be the ball boy at the World Cup final. Perhaps it can happen."
