Defending champions Real Madrid recorded their second win in five La Liga matches after a 2-0 triumph at Rayo Vallecano.
In an encounter held over until Monday evening due to the stadium lights at the Vallecas being cut in an act of sabotage, Madrid opened the scoring after Karim Benzema finished a fine counter-attack in the 13th minute.
The visitors increased the lead on 70 minutes when Cristiano Ronaldo slotted home from the penalty spot after Rayo defender Jordi Amat had handled the ball inside the area.
