Premier League: Reading 1-3 Tottenham

Monday, September 17, 2012

Tottenham Hotspur secured their first win under André Villas-Boas after a 3-1 victory over Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Two draws and a defeat had not given the former Chelsea boss the start to life at White Hart Lane that he would have hoped for, but Jermain Defoe's strike in the 18th minute calmed the nerves.

Gareth Bale put Spurs further ahead on 71 minutes and Defoe struck again shortly after to put the game beyond doubt, with Hal Robson-Kanu grabbing a consolation goal for the hosts.
