Football League Championship: Betting on Bolton Wanderers

Friday, December 21, 2012

There are a good many disappointed Bolton Wanderers' fans out there at the moment, and it isn't too difficult to see why.

This club which many think rightly deserved a place in the Premiership is languishing sadly at 18th Place in the nPower Championship table.

With 21 games played and a tally of just 4 home wins and 2 wins away it has been a rough ride this season.

However if you are a football pools player, Bolton would have been a good club to have down for a draw over the last few months as out of the last ten games they have drawn six.

If you have been betting on them drawing, then you will have been taking the bookmaker's to the cleaners.

Naturally relatively few punters bet on a draw; most betting is on a win, consequently it is on drawn matches that bookmakers make most of their money; it is a bit like the zero pocket on European roulette at an online casino.

In seasons that have very low percentages of drawn games bookmakers can really suffer.

Despite languishing close to the bottom of the table, the prospects for Bolton are not entirely bleak; in fact they are better than they might appear.

You can still reasonably back Bolton for promotion; they still have a fighting chance and could easily make the play-offs, and then it's anybody's guess which club will make it.

If you are looking for some decent odds then you can get at least 7/1 that Bolton will make it to the Premiership.

This could also get a boost from the management style of Dougie Freedman who took over the job at the end of October 2012.

Bolton did not lose a single match at all under him in November, which was pretty much a record for the club, and to date he has presided over just one loss.

He just needs to find a way of converting all those draws into victories.
