Ronaldo's career is packed with goals of all sorts and from all angles, but in 10 1/2 seasons he never had found the back of his team's net until 22 minutes in at Los Cármenes.

New signing Nolito swung in a corner towards the near post where Ronaldo headed the ball past his own goalkeeper Diego López.

José Mourinho's men threw everything forward in a desperate attempt to tie the game but Granada managed to hold out for a priceless victory.

"I had meant the corner to be struck by my own teammates. But we will take the three points any way we can," said Nolito, who arrived on Wednesday from Benfica.
