Ronaldinho survives brutal two-footed assault
Table of Contents
Brazilian legend Ronaldinho was lucky not to have broken a leg, or possibly two, following one of the most dangerous tackles football has ever seen.
There were two minutes left to play in the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday night, with Ronaldinho's Atlético Mineiro 5-2 up at Argentine outfit Arsenal de SarandÃ.
As Ronaldinho jinked inside the Arsenal area, Arsenal defender Diego Braghieri launched himself into a two-footed tackle that bent the former Barcelona playmaker's leg back.
Fortunately, and quite incredibly, Braghieri's studs-up assault did not appear to injure Ronaldinho.
Meanwhile, the assailant, astonishingly, was not even booked for his disgraceful play, never mind a red card.
Mineiro were at least awarded a penalty for the challenge but, perhaps unsurprisingly, Ronaldinho missed the resulting spot kick.
The 32-year-old showed no anger towards Braghieri, however, happily shaking hands with the Argentine at the final whistle.
