Robin van Persie suffered a bizarre hip injury in Manchester United's clash with Queens Park Rangers on Saturday after crashing into a television camera in the build-up to Rafael's opener.

In the 23rd minute, the Dutchman took down the ball in the right hand channel of the QPR box and somehow wriggled free to get in a cross.

Rafael subsequently scored from the play but van Persie's momentum took him into trouble as he fell into a camera bunker positioned just past the byline.

Encouragingly, he played on for 18 minutes following initial pitchside treatment, but he was eventually replaced six minutes before half-time by Danny Welbeck.

"He collided into a camera which was dug out of a piece of ground, he collided into the base of it and that's given him a sore hip," United manager Sir Alex Ferguson told Sky Sports.

"I imagine it will be tender and sore for a few days, but hopefully he'll be all right in time for the Real Madrid game."
