With his side 3-2 down in the third minute of injury time, Åkesson charged forward for a corner in a last ditch attempt to get something in a crucial match against their relegation rivals.

A defender kept Åkesson from attempting a header as the corner kick sailed in, but after his teammate's shot was deflected, the 35-year-old duly found the ball sitting up sweetly in front of him.

Completely undaunted, Åkesson swiveled and rifled the ball into the bottom corner to keep his side above Varberg on goal difference.

Feeling the euphoria of a rare goal, the veteran goalie simply ran towards the Värnamo bench with a look of pure joy on his face before disappearing under a pile of his teammates.
