Marica signed with Getafe on undisclosed terms after being released by Bundesliga side Schalke 04 at the end of last season.

However, the 28-year-old has had to make a fresh adjustment to his new life in the new country.

According to Bild, Marica in Spanish translates as "sissy" or "faggot", and the player has already been the target of mickey-taking in the Spanish press.

Therefore, the Romania international and his new club have taken the decision to change the name on the back of his shirt to simply his first name, Ciprian.
