Substitute Salomon Kalou came off the bench and headed in the equaliser for Chelsea to secure a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea suffered an early blow when Deco had pulled his muscle in the warm-up.

Later on, Ricardo Carvalho joined his Portuguese compatriot in the stands as he limped off with what could be ligament damage after just 13 minutes.

Park Ji-Sung gave the visitors an 18th minute lead as he poked home the rebound after Dimitar Berbatov's shot was spilled by Petr Čech.

Luiz Felipe Scolari brought on Didier Drogba at the restart, while Cristiano Ronaldo was soon on for United.

The Blues dominated after the break but Joe Cole and Nicolas Anelka wasted glorious chances to level the score.

United looked set to grab all three points before unmarked Kalou nodded home John Obi Mikel's free-kick to extend Chelsea's unbeaten home Premier League record to 85 matches.

The result saw the Blues up into second place, one point behind London rivals Arsenal and six ahead United.
