Premier League round-up: Liverpool and Chelsea lose 100 percent start

Liverpool missed out on the opportunity to go top of the Premier League after a goalless draw with Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The clash had been eagerly anticipated after the collapse of Gareth Barry's move to Liverpool.

John Carew came closest to winning the match for Villa but the big Norwegian fired straight at Jose Reina from close range.

The dull result produced further disappointment for Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez as Fernando Torres suffered a hamstring injury in the first half.



Tottenham ended Chelsea's 100 percent start to the season after a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea took the lead through Juliano Belletti after 28 minutes before Darren Bent scored his first goal of the campaign to level the score.

The result gave Spurs, minus Dimitar Berbatov, their first point of the season and lifted them off the bottom of the Premier League.
