Premier League Week 4 Round-Up

Sunday, September 14, 2008

Chelsea remain top after a 3-1 victory at Manchester City.

The £33 million Brazilian started his Premier League career in style as he fired a free-kick past Petr Cech only 13 minutes on the clock.

But Ricardo Carvalho equalised just three minutes later before Frank Lampard gave Chelsea the lead in the 53rd-minute.

The Blues went on to dominate the second half with Nicolas Anelka scoring a third on 69 minutes.

John Terry was shown a straight red card for a foul on Jo but Chelsea held on for a comfortable win.

Emmanuel Adebayor hit a hat-trick as Arsenal crushed Blackburn at Ewood Park.

England star Theo Walcott continued his impressive form by creating the opening goal for Robin van Persie after just eight minutes.

Adebayor then made it 2-0 before the interval, heading home from close range after Denilson's excellent cross.

And after looking comfortable during the second half, Adebayor scored twice for the Gunners to complete his hat-trick in the last 10 minutes.

Ryan Babel's late show overshadowed Dimitar Berbatov's big day as Liverpool hit Manchester United at Anfield.

United made the perfect start when Anderson's superb pass found Berbatov, with the striker laying on a goal for strike partner Carlos Tevez after just three minutes.

But Sir Alex Ferguson's side caused their own downfall when Edwin Van der Sar palmed a cross onto the unfortunate Wes Brown to bring Liverpool level in the 27th minute.

Babel then ensured Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez could end Premier League his hoodoo against United as he slammed home the winner 13 minutes from time.

United's day went from bad to worse when defender Nemanja Vidic was dismissed for a second yellow in the dying seconds.
