AC Milan would welcome Beckham in January

Monday, October 20, 2008

David Beckham has been offered the opportunity to train with Serie A giants AC Milan in January so he can continue playing for England.

The LA Galaxy player wants to stay in shape in order to remain part of the national squad, but the Major League Soccer season does not run through the winter, so he will need to find alternative arrangements.

England boss Fabio Capello has said he will only pick players who are playing competitive football.

The former England captain trained with Arsenal during the last MLS winter break.

Following a 3-0 defeat against Houston, Galaxy have now been eliminated from the race for the MLS play-offs, meaning their season ends next weekend.

He will join his Galaxy team-mates on their travel to Australia and New Zealand in December to play exhibitions — before linking up with Milan in January.
