Manchester City defender Micah Richards has been arrested and bailed over an alleged assault outside a nightclub.
The 20-year-old was quizzed by police on Wednesday regarding an attack which is said to have occurred in Hale, Greater Manchester, at around 12.30am on Christmas Eve.
The Ashley Road nightclub was the scene of the crime and an 18-year-old victim lodged a complaint to the authorities. Richards was taken in for questioning, but 'vigorously denies' any involvement and insists that he hasn't been charged.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "A 20-year-old man has been arrested after an assault outside a Hale nightclub, at about 12.30am on December 24, 2008.
"The man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault by appointment on Wednesday February 4.
"He has been bailed until April 8 pending further inquiries."
Currently, Richards' City team-mate Robinho and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard are going through the mill due to their alleged involvement in crimes.
