Marcos Senna out of Arsenal clash

Monday, April 13, 2009

Villarreal will be without captain Marcos Senna for this week's Champions League return meeting with Arsenal after the midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in the 2-0 loss to Málaga on Saturday.

The Spain international picked up the problem 10 minutes from time, leaving the Yellow Submarine with 10 players as coach Manuel Pellegrini had already made three substitutions.

It is not yet known how long Senna will be out for but, according to Villarreal's website, he will definitely miss Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Emirates Stadium.

Senna, who scored Villarreal's goal in a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the quarterfinals last week, joins fellow Spanish international Santi Cazorla on the sidelines.

Cazorla broke a bone in his right leg in the 3-0 loss at Almería which will keep him out of action for around three months.
